The funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will accelerate disaster recovery in communities across the state and support disaster survivors.

South Carolina will receive more than $10 million in federal disaster recovery and support funds, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced Thursday.

Of the $10 million, $3.3 million will fund five projects through FEMA's Public Assistance program. That includes:

  • More than $1.9 million to the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism for debris removal operations
  • More than $569,000 to Conway Hospital for disaster management costs
  • More than $516,000 to the South Carolina Department of Transportation for disaster management costs
  • More than $207,000 to Laurens County for road and bridge repairs
  • More than $129,000 to the Combined Utility System of Easley for utility repairs

FEMA is also awarding South Carolina nearly $7 million to fund the state’s disaster case management program that directly supports individuals and families with ongoing needs from Hurricane Helene. The funding is part of more than $896 million FEMA announced for 620 projects nationwide.
