The nearly $8.3 million dollar loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will enhance the water system that serves communities in the area.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing nearly $8.3 million to strengthen rural water infrastructure in Horry County. The Water and Environmental Programs loan will support the Bucksport Water System.

The federal investments help afford rural communities the technical assistance and financing necessary to develop drinking water and waste disposal systems. The loan to Bucksport will be used to construct a production well and an elevated storage tank, strengthening the water supply and storage capacity of the system serving the Horry County area.

“Safe, reliable drinking water is essential to the health and future of every rural community, said Jacob French, USDA Rural Development South Carolina State Director. "This investment will help ensure families and businesses across the Horry County area can count on the water service they depend on."
