Now through Saturday, Oct. 17, the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) says drivers in Kershaw, Lee, Sumter, and Clarendon counties will see additional law enforcement presence on the roads.
This effort is a part of a multi-agency Area Coordinated Enforcement (ACE) initiative to reduce collisions and highway fatalities in South Carolina. The ACE team was established in 2021 as a specialized unit of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The team is responsible for using crash data to identify areas most in need of special enforcement to curb crashes caused by unsafe driving behaviors, including aggressive driving and speeding. The ACE team is comprised of three teams: Upstate, Midstate and Lowstate.
SCDPS says troopers and officers will focus on enforcing all traffic violations with an emphasis on those commonly associated with serious injuries or death.
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Sumter Police Department, Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are partnering in the operation.
