Korean Air has inked a deal to buy 25 North Charleston-built 787-10 jets as well as 78 other commercial planes. The list-price tops $36 billion.
The order was finalized during a signing ceremony Tuesday at a Seoul hotel.
“This is much more than a business deal. It’s a testament to the trust and the unbreakable alliance between our two countries,” said Walter Cho in a statement. He’s the chairman and CEO of Korean Air and Hanjin Group.
Boeing says the order includes 103 jets from its widebody and single-aisle fleets. The company calls it a “milestone” that “serves as a tangible outcome of bilateral trade negotiations.”
The order also includes 21 spare engines from GE Aerospace and CFM International, as well as a 15-year maintenance contract for 28 planes.
It fulfills a procurement agreement made by Korean Air a little more than a year ago.
