South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and first lady Peggy McMaster on Thursday released their official portraits that will hang in the governor's mansion.
The portraits were painted by Robert Anderson, who studied portraiture at the School of Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and has painted more than 250 portraits of known figures in government and in the fields of education, medicine, religion and business.
Anderson's portfolio includes portraits of former President George W. Bush in the National Portrait Gallery and the late former Federal Reserve Chair Alan Greenspan.
"There is no greater privilege than serving the people of South Carolina, and I have been proud to see our state become stronger and more prosperous during my time in public office," McMaster said in a statement. "Peggy and I are grateful for the opportunity we have had to contribute to this great state, and it is an honor to have our portraits displayed here at the Governor’s Mansion."
The governor's office said the paintings were commissioned by the Governor's Mansion Commission Foundation, and will be displayed at the mansion with other portraits of South Carolina's former governors.
