Prysmian North America's $80 million investment will create more than 130 jobs.

Prysmian North America (Prysmian), announced Wednesday it will expand operations in Lexington County. The $80 million investment will create about 135 jobs.

Prysmian is a global leader in the production of optical fibers, optical and copper cables, and connectivity systems. The company's decision to enhance operations at its Lexington facility will increase manufacturing capabilities in the state.

"This investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting the growth of the U.S. demand for advanced digital solutions," said Prysmian North America CEO Andrea Pirondini. "We are one of just three U.S. manufacturers of fiber and optical cables, and now we are committing more than a billion dollars to new innovative solutions and transformational capacity growth.”

Prysmian operates in more than 50 countries, with over 50 locations and 9,000 associates in North America. Alongside its Lexington facility, the company also operates a manufacturing plant in Abbeville County.

“For decades, Prysmian has been a valued corporate partner and an integral part of the Lexington County community," said Lexington County Council Chairman Darrell Hudson. "We are proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to supporting Prysmian’s continued success for many years to come.”

Operations are expected to begin in May 2028. Anyone interested in joining the Prysmian team should visit the company’s careers page.
