The department seeks community feedback on hunting deer with dogs. State wildlife officials say the agency's board requested this forum.
SCDNR says it is not proposing or recommending any changes to current laws, and there is no pending legislation on the issue.
The department says its role is strictly to listen and document viewpoints through these meetings, focus groups and a statewide survey. Any actual changes to state hunting laws must be made by the South Carolina General Assembly.
The meeting will run from 6:30 to 8 PM at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Auditorium.
Another engagement forum related to hunting dogs is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10 in Walterboro.
