State's job market expands with business investments in the Upstate, Pee Dee

New operations in Florence and Spartanburg will add to South Carolina's workforce.

Business developments in the Upstate and Pee Dee will expand the state's job market.

In Florence, SteelFab is expanding operations. The $39 million investment is expected to create 108 jobs. The new facility at 500 Freedom Blvd. will produce fabricated steel parts for U.S. naval defense purposes.

SteelFab also has facilities in Charleston and Rock Hill. The Florence plant is expected to begin production in September 2027.

In August, a global packaging supplier to restaurants will open its first U.S manufacturing operation in Spartanburg.

The new 175,000 square foot facility is set grow Detpack USA's North American market. Its parent company already has sales operations in Los Angeles and Tampa.

It'll use local and imported raw materials from existing suppliers as part of the multi-million dollar investment. Fifty new jobs are expected.
