Both state and federal leaders have ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff across the country following the passing of South Carolina U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham.

Governor Henry McMaster announced the state directive via social media, confirming he has ordered the flags atop the State Capitol in Columbia to be lowered in recognition of Graham’s legacy and lifetime of public service.

In the official notice, McMaster requested that all other state agencies, local municipal buildings, and political subdivisions throughout South Carolina lower their flags as well.

At the national level, President Donald Trump issued a federal directive ordering all American flags at government facilities across the United States to be flown at half-staff.

This mandate applies to all military bases, post offices, courthouses, etc. On Truth Social, the President stated that the national tribute will remain in effect until Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m.
