Clemson University's president-elect will remain at Michigan State University. Kevin Guskiewicz made the announcement Monday in a message on Michigan State's website.
On May 26, Clemson's Board of Trustees named Guskiewicz as the university's 16th president. The trustees unanimously approved his selection.
In his message to the Spartan community, Guskiewicz said that after much thought and careful consideration, he decided to remain at Michigan State and continue serving as president. Guskiewicz went on to say "the place has become home to our family. The people, the mission and the opportunity to make a lasting difference here mean more to us than we can adequately express."
The national search will continue for Clemson's next president. The Board plans to meet soon while the fall semester is scheduled to begin Aug. 17.
