SLED investigates fatal officer-involved shooting in Laurens County

The incident marks the 20th officer-involved shooting in the state this year.

One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Laurens County. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the incident that occurred on June 28.

A SLED news release identifies the victim as 31-year-old Brodie Reese. According to the release, Clinton police officers were responding to a domestic disturbance at an apartment on Musgrove Street when they found Reese, who was armed, and shot him.

Reese died at the scene. No officers were injured.

This is the 20th officer-involved shooting in the state this year. There were 45 in South Carolina last year.
