The two last-standing candidates for the Republican governor nomination will face off in a final debate. The debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University.
The state’s longest-serving attorney general, Alan Wilson, is endorsed by three of the four GOP gubernatorial candidates who have conceded since the primary. Reps. Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman and Sen. Josh Kimbrell are backing Wilson to be the state’s next governor. Businessman Rom Reddy did not endorse a candidate after his concession.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette has the support of both President Donald Trump and Gov. Henry McMaster.
The debate will be broadcast by Gray Media stations. Both candidates are scheduled to attend as of Tuesday morning.
There is a two-day early voting window for runoff elections. Early voters can cast their ballot Wednesday or Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. There is no early voting Friday due to the Juneteenth holiday.
Anyone wanting to participate in the runoff election must cast a ballot within the party they did in the primary. For example, someone who voted in the Democratic primary may not vote in the Republican governor’s race runoff.
The winner of the June 23 runoff will face Democratic Rep. Jermaine Johnson in November.
