Larry White, 30, is serving time in the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) on multiple charges including assault and battery and attempted murder.
Thirty people were indicted in the 2018 riot at Lee Correctional that killed seven and injured dozens of others.
An SCDC spokesperson says jury selection begins today at the Lee County Courthouse in Bishopville. Testimony is expected to begin Tuesday.
