The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man injured in Florence County on Saturday.
SLED reports Maurice Cortez Green, 34, was shot following an altercation with Florence police at a home on Rushmore Loop.
According to SLED, police were called to the home for a hostage situation where they found Green holding a knife to a woman's neck. SLED says Green tried to get away but an officer located him, there was an altercation, and that's when Green was shot.
He is being treated at a local hospital. No law enforcement officers were injured.
Saturday's incident is the 13th officer-involved shooting in the state this year.. SLED reports there were 45 officer involved shootings in South Carolina last year.
