Dylan Carter, a South Carolinian who rose to the national spotlight by competing on The Voice, died in a car crash. He was 24.
News of Carter's death circled social media over the weekend.
Moncks Corner Mayor, Thomas Hamilton Jr., wrote on social media, "To the loved ones and acquaintances of Dylan, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult period. The Town of Moncks Corner, its Council, and entire staff extend their deepest sympathies. He was much more to our family than an entertainer he was our friend and we are deeply saddened."
Originally from Saint George, Carter travelled to Hollywood to compete on season 24 of The Voice in 2023. His audition won over all four judges. He joined Reba McEntire's team.
The country singer and coach shared a statement on social media following the news of Carter's passing. "We will miss Dylan so much," wrote McEntire. "He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice. Rest in peace, my dear friend."
