The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) announced the arrest of Lacey Cushman Tuesday, April 21.

A judge ruled Tuesday that Lacey Cushman will remain in jail.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) reports Cushman, 37, injured Springfield Police Chief Adam Evans when she shot into his car during a chase on April 20. Investigators said the shooting happened in Barnwell County, which is just southeast of Augusta. Springfield is a town in neighboring Orangeburg County.

The incident lit phones up across the state, as SLED agents began a statewide search for Cushman. She was found a day later in Orangeburg County.

Cushman faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault. The Town of Springfield released a statement saying Chief Evans is home recovering from his injuries.
