Suniva, Inc., a U.S. owned and operated solar cell manufacturer, has announced plans to build its first production facility in Laurens County. The $350 million investment will create 564 new jobs.
The plant is expected to open in the spring/summer of 2027 at 1200 Commerce Blvd. in Laurens. The facility, in conjunction with its Atlanta, G.A. operation will support the company’s commitment to independent clean energy production. With the addition of the Laurens plant, Suniva will produce over 5.5GW of solar cells annually, one of the largest such capacities in the United States.
Founded in 2007, Suniva became well known for leading the push for solar cell manufacturing in the U.S. as a pillar of the nation’s energy independence and domestic energy security.
