Carl A'see

Carl A’see serves as the General Manager of WSSB, WPJK, and WOBS where his visionary leadership, deep industry knowledge, and commitment to public media have elevated the station’s profile both locally and nationally. With a career spanning over two decades in broadcasting, Carl is a passionate advocate for community radio, educational media, and the power of storytelling to transform lives.
Under Carl’s direction, South Carolina State University has expanded its radio footprint in the state of South Carolina, as well as strengthened programming, deepened community partnerships, and increased engagement across digital platforms, while staying true to its mission of serving diverse voices and perspectives. His focus on mentorship, strategic development, and innovative content has helped position the station as a model for mission-driven media. On a national level, Carl serves on the Board of Directors for the National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB) and the University Station Alliance (U:SA). Through these roles, he works to support and strengthen non-commercial, educational, and university-affiliated radio stations across the country. Carl also heads the training program at the radio stations for students interested in radio broadcasting. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Carl A’see is not only a respected media executive but also a community connector and cultural advocate, dedicated to using the airwaves as a platform for empowerment, education, and equity.
